The Life of a Custom Paper Bag (or Custom Box)
Quoting Process –
We take every quote serious and realize the opportunity within each one.
Many times, we are sent back to the drawing board to create different cost
effective prices to help a customer. With any paper bag, specs are created
from the bag or the bag idea and used to quote pricing. We offer our best
pricing and most competitive pricing we can offer the first time. We do not
believe in wasting our time or the customer’s time going back and forth – we
give you our best first time around. Many times we do go back to the drawing
board but it is usually due to specs changing.
Receiving the Order –
Once we have been awarded the business, we gather the PO and the artwork
and send all the information to the Factory. The Factory works on an artwork
layout from the artwork sent. This layout is the first stage in quality
control. The layout shows the size bag(s), art layout on the bag, centering,
text information, fonts and colors.
Creating Your Custom Bags –
Once this layout is approved by the customer, the Factory begins making
the plates for the order. After plates are made, the Factory will set up to
make prototypes (proofs) for the customer. These are ACTUAL bags and much
like production samples - everything down to the handles on the bag. This
proof is sent to the customer for “proofing”. If any changes to colors,
handles, artwork, sizing, or layout is needed; this is the time to make all
changes. After the bag is approved, the Factory begins production. The Lead
Time for receiving the artwork layout is within a few days after the artwork
is received. Proof bags usually take 1-2 weeks after art layouts are
approved. All Printing Production of bags is done by machine and this is the
only part NOT done by hand. After the bags are printed, all the work is done
by HAND. The “bags” or “sheets of paper printed” are individually put
through the die cut machine to incorporate the fold lines. The sheets of
paper are then folded, given top/bottom boards, and glued into the shape of
bags. The handles are cut, attached and tied. Each knot is individually hand
tied! This is the reasoning behind the longer lead times for paper bags done
overseas. Production time for bags to be printed, laminated, folded, glued
and tied usually takes 4-6 weeks. The next 1-2 weeks is given for packing
each case with individual poly packs of the bags, case packing the bags and
getting them ready for shipping out.
Once the bags leave the Port, the time spent on the water is usually 4-5
weeks until the container reaches a US Port. Our Staff works hard to make
sure all paperwork, fees and customs clearance releases are done before the
bags reach the Port, if possible. We know our customers are anxious for
their bags and we want to strive for fast delivery getting them their
product.
Receiving Your Order –
Thus, the entire true “process” of creating and producing bags takes
12-14 weeks in total. Many times depending on the Job Boards, we are able to
rush certain jobs and/or make better lead times. We look at each order on a
case by case basis and discuss these options and terms during the quoting
process.
We work with different warehouses throughout the United States. Unless an
order is a 20 or 40-foot container of bags, each bag order is delivered to
the final destination in cases marked and palletized. We pride ourselves on
communication. We keep our customers updated on arrival dates changing,
Customs Exam Holds, Port back up delays, etc so the customer is updated as
we get the information. We maintain this same communication until the
product is delivered to the final destination.
Thank You For Your Order –
We are a smaller company but we work in a big way to meet your needs. We
feel we are better than the bigger companies in some ways. We are not so big
that “red tape” hampers decisions, we use more time in maintaining open
communication, and quite frankly…we CAN NOT AFFORD to lose you as a
customer. We care about each customer – TINY to huge – and treat each the
same on a customer service and quality level.
We value our relationship with each customer. We look forward to working
with you and we thank you for the opportunity.
